FAIRHAVEN — Trinity Lutheran Church of Fairhaven will host a 'Dementia Friendly @ Work' training session at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27. The church is located at 16 Temple Place. Training will be provided by Community Nurse Home Care and the session is open to the public.
Pastor Paul Wheeler of Trinity Lutheran Church said in a press release, "As I have discovered in my vocation as a pastor and in my family life, awareness and knowledge in this area is most important as we follow Christ’s call to love our neighbor.”
Training includes how to become a dementia-friendly business. It explores the topics of what dementia is and how to recognize the signs. Strategies will be provided for communicating and interacting with a person who has dementia. There will also be tips for creating dementia-friendly physical space.
Training will help organizations to heighten their awareness of dementia and to be equipped to respond warmly and effectively when serving people living with dementia and their families,
