MIDDLEBORO — A motorcyclist fled the scene of a fatal crash involving another motorcycle early Wednesday morning, police said.
State police responded to Route 495, about 12:05 a.m., for a report of a crash involving two motorcycles.
Troopers responded and only found one motorcycle on the scene. That driver was taken by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital, but later died, according to Massachusetts State Police spokesman Lt. Thomas Ryan.
“The other motorcycle operator actually fled the scene initially,” Ryan said.
State police later located that second driver accused of fleeing the scene. The driver was also taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of injuries.
That driver wasn’t facing any charges as of early Wednesday afternoon, but Ryan said the crash was still under investigation.
The age and town of the victim and other driver weren’t immediately available on the initial crash report.
State police aren’t yet identifying the victim, pending family notification.
