QUINCY — A 32-year-old Quincy man lost part of his hand Tuesday night in a fireworks accident on Agawam Road in the city’s Merrymount neighborhood.
The man was lighting off fireworks in Perkins Field, where about 50 people had gathered, around 9:45 p.m.
One of the fireworks immediately exploded after he lit the fuse, causing severe damage to one of his hands, Quincy Police Sgt. Karyn Barkas said.
Brewster Ambulance said the victim was taken to Boston Medical Center and transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital’s Trauma Center.
The victim lost multiple fingers, Barkas said. His condition was not immediately available Wednesday morning and police did not release his identity.
No charges or citations had been filed in the incident, Barkas said.
