CARVER — A juvenile male and a man are being summonsed to Wareham District Court to answer to the charges of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle with intent to commit a misdemeanor, police said.

The name of the juvenile, 16, will not be released, but the name of the 19-year-old male may be released once he’s arraigned, according to Carver Police Chief Marc R. Duphily.

Early Friday, the Carver Police Department received reports that items which included a purse, wallet, phone, sunglasses and cash were stolen from at least four motor vehicles in the Crystal Lake area. None of the vehicles were locked, Duphily said.

An anonymous resident reported that he witnessed a local juvenile male early Friday in the area riding a bicycle that appeared too small for him. However, Duphily said the tip was beneficial to the subsequent investigation.

Officers were able to determine the identity of both males who reside in the area. The investigation led to locating most of the stolen items which were returned to the owners, although a cellphone, sunglasses and some cash remain missing, he said.

In the news release, Duphily reminded residents to lock their cars. “This simple action can greatly reduce the chance that your belongings may be stolen,” he said.
