NEW BEDFORD — McDonald’s is apparently fast at more than just food.

The restaurant located at the corner of County and Elm streets began renovations on Monday. A new state-of-the-art restaurant should be complete by the end of next week, according to the company.

“We look forward to unveiling an updated exterior design in addition to the exciting new ‘Just for You’ ordering kiosks and table service for our community neighbors very soon,” said Paul Farren, the owner/operator of the branch in a statement through McDonald’s.

Part of the renovation will include the addition of touchscreen kiosks, which represent the restaurant’s new “Just for You” experience.

Customers will be able to order their meals at the kiosk instead of at the counter. They will also have the ability to pay there with conventional methods as well as new options like Apple and Android Pay.

An employee will be available at the register, too.

Once an order is placed and paid at the kiosk, the machine will provide the customer with a number. A McDonald’s employee will then bring the order to the corresponding table when it is ready.

“The introduction of table service makes the dining-in experience more comfortable and convenient, and gives our crew members an opportunity to connect with guests in another personal way,” McDonald’s said in a statement.
