NEW BEDFORD — A 43-year-old city man suffered minor injuries when he was struck by an unknown object early Monday during a robbery in the area of 17 Roosevelt St. in the South End, police said.

The victim told police he was walking to his vehicle between 1:15 and 1:25 a.m. when he was approached by three men who asked for his cellphone, police said.

When the victim refused, he was struck on the head and suffered minor injuries to his back and behind his ear, police said. He was unable to provide a description of the men.

The suspects are wanted on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed robbery (the cellphone), according to the New Bedford Police Department logs.
