NEW BEDFORD — A 20-year-old New Bedford man is facing drug and weapons charges in connection with what police described as a cocaine delivery service operating out of 137 Richmond St., Apt. 1.

Waylan Smith, of that address, was arrested shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday, police said. Officers executed a search warrant at the home.

Members of the narcotics unit seized two hanguns — one a high-capacity Glock, and the other a loaded revolver — along with ammunition, 384 grams of marijuana and a small amount of cocaine.

Smith was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a firearm without a license, improper storage of a firearm (large capacity) and improper storage of a firearm (non large capacity.)

The weapons were a Glock 23 .40 caliber high-capacity handgun and a loaded Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver, according to police. They also found packaging materials, a digital scale and $4,030 in currency, police said.
