WAREHAM — A 43-year-old man was arrested early Friday after leaving the scene of a car crash, police said.
Shortly after midnight, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 28 in the area of Tobey Road. They found one damaged car with two adults, but no injuries were reported. They told police they were driving south on Route 28 when a vehicle veered into their lane, crashed into them and left.
Officer Robert Mclain found a heavily damaged vehicle just north of the crash, just as Officer Ryan Turner found John Arkridge IV, 43, of Washington, D.C., staggering in a parking lot about 500 feet away from his damaged vehicle.
Arkridge was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.
