NEW BEDFORD — A suspect was armed with a weapon when they robbed a gas station/convenience store Sunday night in the city's West End, police said.

The One Stop Gas and Variety Store, 1194 Kempton St., was robbed shortly before 8 p.m., according to a spokeswoman for the New Bedford Police Department. No injuries were reported.

The armed robbery is being investigated by detectives, a spokeswoman said. She said it is "a very active investigation" and police are not releasing any other information about the incident, she said.

According to the NBPD logs, the suspect's face was concealed during the commission of the robbery. Police did not say what was stolen or the type of weapon that was used.

This is the second robbery in recent days. The Quick Smoke Variety Store, 160 Rivet St., was robbed on Nov. 7.
