Rockabilly Legend John Gordon may get top billing Friday night for his concert in the Vault at Greasy Luck.

But even before he takes his stage, a bit of history will be there before him.

Opening for Gordon is Johnny Barnes and The Nightcrawlers.

It’s a family affair as Roger Chouinard, owner of Purchases Street Records, just down the street from Greasy Luck will be playing drums for Barnes. Chouinard’s uncle also used to play in the band with Barnes… and used to play with Gordon as well.

Barnes is a well-known local blues musician, who also made a name for himself as an investigator and police officer.

Gordon rose to prominence as the face of 50s-era rockabilly music as it burst back onto the national consciousness following the death of Elvis Presley.

Robert Barnes and the NightCrawlers take the stage at 8 p.m. Friday with Gordon to go on at 9.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at ticketfly.com/purchase/event/1625846.
