NEW BEDFORD — A man crossing Elm Street was struck by a pickup truck shortly before 10 a.m. on Thursday, according to first responders at the scene. Officials told The Standard-Times the man was not seriously injured and didn't provide any further details.

First responders attended to the victim as he laid on Elm Street just outside the crosswalk perpendicular to the entrance to the Elm Street Parking Garage. The front end of a pickup truck was angled toward his feet, while the back end was angled toward N. 2nd Street.

The man was conscious and moving while EMTs examined him. They continued to attend to him on scene in the ambulance.

Portions of Elm Street from Bethel Street to Acushnet Avenue remained closed for about 20 minutes. It reopened shortly before 10:15 a.m.
