ACUSHNET — Rogerio F. Cunha, age 62, of Acushnet, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 23, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the loving husband of Gabriela (Mendonca) Cunha with whom he shared 42 years of marriage.

Born in Valezim Beira Alta, Portugal, a son of Fernando and Lidia (Gouveia) Cunha, he had resided in Acushnet for 40 years.

Mr. Cunha had worked as a mason for 40 years until his retirement.

Rogerio was a true family man who loved being with his family. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends, watching his grandkids' sporting events and going for rides with his wife, the love of his life. He loved all sports and was a huge fan of Benfica. He loved the outdoors, working in his yard, gardening, fishing, hunting and appreciated good food.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents is his son, Roger Cunha and wife Carol of Acushnet; three grandchildren, Emily-Grace Cunha, Jack Cunha and Nicholas "Nico" Cunha; two brothers, Eduardo Cunha and wife Piedade of Fairhaven and Antonio Cunha and companion Heather of New Bedford; many godchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and a great nephew.

The family would like to express their deepest and heartfelt gratitude to all their family and friends who participated in the services for their beloved son, husband, father and vo.
