NEW BEDFORD — Gail A. (Costa) Vasques, of New Bedford died peacefully Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Saint Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Vasques was the wife of Jorge M. Vasques with whom she shared 44 years of marriage and daughter of the late Clotilde (Camillo) Costa and Manuel Costa Jr. She was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Mrs. Vasques was a devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was a graduate of Bristol Community College. Mrs. Vasques was employed as a customer service representative at the former Silverstein’s and most recently at Southcoast Hospitals Group until her retirement. She was a woman of great integrity, known for her compassion and kindness and enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends, especially her granddaughters.

Her family includes her husband, Jorge M. Vasques of New Bedford; two sons, Timothy J. Vasques and his wife, LoriAnn Vasques of East Freetown and Matthew J. Vasques of New Bedford; one sister, Susanne M. Reis and her husband Teofilo Reis of New Bedford; two granddaughters, Taylee E. Vasques and Langstyn O. Vasques and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. Her funeral will be on Monday, July 10, 2017 beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Rural Cemetery.
