ROCKLAND, ME — Violette (Cure) Fortier, formerly of South Dartmouth, Massachusetts and recently of Rockland, Maine, died on September 6, 2017 after a brief decline. She was 99 years old.

Violette was born on June 27th, 1918 in New Bedford. Her parents were Anna Nolin and Elzear Cure.

Violette attended school in New Bedford. She was married to Norman E. Fortier. Over the course of her long life, Violette enjoyed going to the beach, fishing, sewing and knitting.

For many years she worked alongside her husband in his photography business in Padanaram. She was the bookkeeper, accountant and occasionally a photography assistant.

Violette was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her two brothers, Armand and Ernest.

She is survived by her three children, Maureen and her husband Steve, Peter and his partner Karen, and Nancy. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

The family will have a private ceremony at a later date.
