SWANSEA — Hedy A. Audette (Mello), formerly of Fairhaven, age 72, passed away at her residence surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Albert Audette to whom she was married 56 years.

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Edmond and the late Rita (DuBois) Mello she lived in Fairhaven for many years before relocating to Swansea.

An animal lover she appreciated watching and feeding birds and also gardening and cooking. Skilled at doing flag applique, she also enjoyed sewing but most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Albert E. Audette and his wife Cheryl of Mattapoisett; two daughters, Michelle H. Fitzgerald and her husband Stephen of Swansea and Sherry Y. Castonguay and her husband Mark of Leicester; one sister, Darrah Labrode; three grandchildren, Brian Feener, Taylor Audette and Sara Castonguay and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Edmond Mello, Jr., Arleen Smith and Rita Farland.
