MIDDLEBORO — Students at The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts are preparing to bring Seussical Jr. to The Alley Theatre. Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters will spring to life onstage in this fantastical musical extravaganza July 13 and runs through July 16.

Under the direction of Melissa Donnelly, the cast will transport audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird.  Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him.  Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant with lively dance numbers choreographed by Lucy Record and costumed by Richard Bois and Matthew Bruffee.

The show opens Thursday, July 13 at 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 14 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 16 at 3:00 p.m. For tickets, please call 508-946-1071. The Alley Theatre at 133 Center Street in Middleboro behind The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts.
