MIDDLEBORO — Mason Bunker, a first grade student at the Mary K. Goode School, received a special gift from an anonymous resident in town, a “Ride to School in a Fire Truck”. The anonymous resident won the gift at the Old Colony YMCA fundraiser and wished to gift it to “a very special child in her life” as she stated.

On Friday, June 16, 2017 just before 9:00 am, the Fire Chief and the Fire Department’s Tower 3 (Ladder Truck), operated by Firefighter John Parlatore arrived at Mason’s house on Cherry St. to pick up him and his friend, Joseph Monteforte. After some photographs, the children were chauffeured in the Tower truck with lights and sirens blaring to the Mary K. Goode School where all of their classmates were waiting.

“It was a very generous and special gift that the fire department was happy to be part of. Mason and Joseph were smiling from ear to ear when they saw the fire truck show up and especially when I told them we were there to pick them up and drive them to school,” said Chief Lance Benjamino.
