Libraries Rock! is the theme of the 2018 summer reading program

FAIRHAVEN — The Millicent Library is bringing the spirit of rock and roll to the latest summer reading program (minus the loud volume, of course.)

 

Schedule

Wednesday, June 20, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., downstairs at the library: Sign-ups for the summer program begin. Register, get the reading log, face painting, and more. If you cannot make it that day, you may drop in to the Children’s Room anytime through July to sign up.

Thursday, June 21, 10 a.m., Town Hall Auditorium: Magician Debbie O’Carroll returns for the Libraries Rock kickoff show, funded by the Fairhaven Cultural Council, a part of the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Sign ups continue in the library downstairs until 5 p.m.

Tuesday, June 26, 10 a.m.: Summer Storytime for all ages from babies on up.

Tuesday, June 26, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Teen Tuesday, for those entering Grade six and up. Join for social time, Wii, games, arts and crafts, and book discussions.

Tuesday, July 3rd.: Storytime at 10 a.m., Teen Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.

Friday, July 6, 10 a.m.: Kay Hanley Alden’s Fourth of July week Marching and Movement. All ages. Downstairs.

Friday, July 6, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Lego Club. Bring your own Legos, games, Pokemon, or other toys for playtime with friends.

Tuesday, July 10, 10 a.m.: Storytime, Teen Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. (with a special art program with Ms. Nancy, “Written in Stone”)

Wednesday, July 11, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Fire Department Fun! The Fairhaven Fire Department returns for their annual program. Wear your bathing suits! The program will be on the Walnut Street side of the library (Unitarian Church Lawn).

Wednesday, July 11, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Art with Ms. Nancy, “Reading from Life” fossils, molds, casts. Ages 4 and up, event will be downstairs.

Thursday, July 12, 10:30 a.m.: The Ooch Experience. Brett Ouchkunis returns with his music, dance and yo-yos. Downstairs. Ages 4 and up. Funded by a bequest from James P. Honohan.

Friday, July 13, 10 a.m.: Lego Club. Bring your own!

Friday, July 13, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Art with Sara. Learn about environmental artist Andrew Goldsworthy, including “Noticing Walk”

Tuesday, July 17, 10 a.m.: Storytime, Teen Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.

Wednesday, July 18, 10:30 a.m.: A performance by storyteller Diane Edgecomb. Downstairs. Ages 4 and up. Funded by a bequest from James P. Honohan.

Thursday, July 19, 10:30 a.m.: Art with Nancy “A Stone’s Throw” Impression craft.

Friday, July 20, 10 a.m.: Lego Club

Friday, July 20, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: More environmental Art with Sara as the library dives further into discovery, and making your own creations. Downstairs.

Tuesday, July 24, 10 a.m.: Storytime. Teen Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.

Wednesday, July 25, 10 a.m. to noon: Daisy D. Dots returns with her Wonderful World of Clowning. Downstairs. Ages 3 and up

Wednesday, July 25, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: More art with Nancy. Rock and Roll! The Science of Sound. Carillons, music boxes, and CD craft.

Friday, July 27, 10 a.m.: Lego Club

Tuesday, July 31, 10 a.m.: Storytime. Teen Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.

Wednesday, August 1, 10:00 a.m. to noon: 34th annual Teddy Bear Parade on the Unitarian Church Lawn, Walnut Street side of the Library. The parade will march down to Our Lady’s Haven and back.
