Two teams tied for first place in a Junior/Senior Tournament played recently at the par-72 Allendale Country Club in North Dartmouth.
John and Ted Romanelli shared the championship with Brian Thomas and Marc Torpey.
Dan Sullivan and Brandon Medeiros tied for second place with Mike Lemieux and Gerry Lemieux.
Three teams tied for third — Eric Farias and Bruce Mansseur, Gabe Tavares and Marc Francis, and Dave Magalhaes and Bob Mitchell.
Matt Mello, Matt Payette, Tom DaCosta and Jim Pratt combined to take first place in a best ball of the foursome event in the men's division. Charlene Hochman, Mike Hochman, Randi Arruda and George Arruda teamed up to win the mixed division.
Closest-to-the-pin winners were Mello, Kyle Demoranville, Dan Avila and John Rolli, a former men's hockey coach at UMass Dartmouth. The longest drive winners were Adrian Paul and Charlene Hochman.
George Arruda, Randi Arruda, John Fryzel and Kim Kaye took first place in a Nine and Dine competition that featured a four-player scramble. Paul Boudreau, Dot Boudreau, Brad Curtis and Andrea Curtis finished second.

Joan Forrester, Mary Ellen Ryder, Sandra Devlin and Gail Gulino teamed up to shoot a 44 and take first place in the A Flight in a Ladies Best Ball played June 28 at Little Harbor Country Club in Wareham.
Gail Sim, Donna Mountain and Sally Billington won the B Flight with a 48 and the C Flight championship was won by the team of Peggy Gould and Ann Holbrook with a 52.
Closest-to-the-pin honors went to Sandi Crossman (first hole), Sandra Devlin (second), Gail Sim (11th) and Saundra Skiesgelas (17th).
Beth Geary, Jane Egan, Rebecca McCullough and Sandra Devlin carded the first-place score of 72 in a 1 Best, 2 Best, 3 Best Tournament played on June 21. Kathy Macedo, Shirley Collins, Anne Joerres and Janet Perkins finished second with a 75 and the third-place score of 76 was carded by Gail Gulino, Kathy Partridge, Helen Pickering and Ann Holbrook. Pam Debrosse, Donna Mountain, Claire Schell and Linda Donaghey took fourth place with a 77.

New Bedford's Kevin Silva will try to earn a spot in the field for the 117th U.S. Amateur Championship when he tees it up on Thursday in a qualifier at Alpine Country Club in Cranston, Rhode Island. Mansfield's Ryan Pelletier, who grew up in Acushnet and played at UMass Dartmouth, will be in the same 8:18 a.m. group as Silva. The championship is scheduled for Aug. 14-20 at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California. ... Nathaniel Hoopes (The Kittansett Club) shot a 72 and Lakeville's Michael Arter (Crestwood Country Club) carded a 73 to earn spots in the field for the 88th New England Amateur Championship at a qualifier played June 27 at Agawam Hunt Club in Rumford, Rhode Island. A Men's Summer Invitational will be played Saturday at The Back Nine Club in Lakeville. The 18-hole tournament will get underway with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The format is two-man best ball with gross and net divisions. The entry fee is $200 per team and includes greens fee, a cart, coffee and pastries, lunch and prizes. There will be optional side pools. The Sixth Annual Christmas in July Golf Tournament will be played Sunday, July 16, at The Back Nine Club in Lakeville. Registration will begin at 12 p.m. and the tournament will get underway with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The fee is $95 per golfer and includes greens fee, a cart, dinner and prizes. All proceeds from the tournament, which is put on by retired police officers from the area, will benefit the Annual State Police Dartmouth Toy Drive held in mid-December. The toys will be distributed to children at the Boys and Girls Clubs in New Bedford, Wareham and Fall River and Child and Family Services in New Bedford. HOLE IN ONE
Dick Banat used a five wood to ace the par-3, 137-yard fifth hole at Reservation Golf Club in Mattapoisett on June 25. It was the third career hole in one for Banat, who was playing in a group with Wendell Nooth, Ron Secia and Lew Stevens.
