Led by the tandem of Andy Johnson and Adam Seablom, the Apponequet boys basketball team beat Dighton-Rehoboth 74-52 on Sunday to wrap up the South Coast Conference Blue (Large) championship.

The undefeated Lakers (17-0, 13-0) will host either Wareham or Case on Friday in the SCC title game.

“We’re excited for Friday,” said Apponequet coach Jim Cabucio, noting that his Lakers beat both teams earlier this season.

Apponequet used a big fourth quarter to break open a close game Sunday against the Falcons, who trailed by 10 at halftime.

“It was fairly close at halftime,” Cabucio said. “Andy and Adam together scored 24 and 21 points. They did a great job of putting the ball in the hole.”

The Blue Devils bounced back from Friday’s loss to Wareham thanks to a team-high 18 points for Josh Nobrega. Jarred Larocque had 15 while Matt Mitchell added 14. … Fairhaven has won five of its last seven games and must win two of its final three to make the tournament.

The Blue Devils struggled offensively and didn’t have a single player reach double digits in scoring. “We just didn’t make shots,” said Fairhaven coach Jeff Perry. “They’re huge and we’re probably the smallest team in the area. We were getting good looks, but we just couldn’t get the ball to fall.”

The Bulldogs clinched the South Coast Conference championship for the sixth straight year with Saturday night’s win over the Lakers. “Going into this year, I didn’t think we were the team to beat because we lost so many players from last year,” said ORR/Fairhaven coach Eric Labonte, noting that the team has gone 11-0-2 in its last 13 games. “But the kids have a will to win.” … Tayber Labonte had two goals and an assist while Zak Labonte added three assists.
